Ghost Trees

An artwork in memory of the lost trees of the Cumberland Woodland

Ghost Trees is an architectural artwork derived from a painting by Shane Smithers. It is rendered in perforated aluminium panels for the Edmondson Park commuter carpark east facade. Measuring 42 x 21 meters it was the largest pic-perf of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere when opened in 2022.

It honours the flora and fauna that once spread across the Cumberland Woodland. The artwork depicts the the juxtaposition of loss and the ongoing connection to country. It serves as a reminder that the spirituality and vitality of the land endures, and that retaining a connection to country creates positivity for the future.
