The Scots College in Bellevue Hill, Sydney, is constructing a stunning new building to house the John Cunningham Student Centre. It is inspired by Scottish Baronial style of the 16th Century, and the fine architectural details and proportions are majestic and inspiring.

500 Voices has been commissioned to design a floor mural for the ground floor of the student centre. This is a multi-layered Indigenous design inspired by the local cultural visual language, rendered in coloured terrazzo with brass edging and inlaid with Australian aggregate.

The traditional stories in the floor mural are relevant for this country, and the grand and traditional educational setting in which it stands. The stories interweave with themes of the journey of boys to men, the spiral of life of education and growth, the connection to systems of community, and the important role of women in Indigenous learning and lore.

Currently under construction, more pictures to come in mid 2024
